Career Readiness

Building career readiness skills into your courses will help your students understand how their learning within their coursework and major translates into various career paths. The Career Center has developed a Moodle page that includes resources for integrating the NACE competencies as well as a variety of course ready activities you can easily copy into your own course Moodle pages.

Throughout the page you will find a variety of resources organized by career topic (i.e. career exploration, job/internship search, skill development, etc.). Below is a description for each resource:

  • Rubrics – these can be used to assess certain assignments that you might prefer to have a guide for
  • Assignments – there are a wide variety of assignments within each topic. You can choose the assignment(s) that you would like to use in your own courses. These can be easily copied and revised for your needs.
  • Supplemental materials – this will include additional resources and handouts that can be provided for your students
  • Classroom activities and discussion – these activities are meant to assist you in leading discussions and workshops during your class. While not set up to be copied into your course, you can download and print any of the materials needed.

Note that not every topic will include all of these resources. If you see a topic missing that you’d love resources on, please feel free to reach out to Lauren DeHaan at ldehaan@unca.edu.

All faculty have access to this Moodle page on their Dashboard under “Career Development Resources for Faculty.” If it isn’t there, please reach out to the Career Center at career@unca.edu to add you.
